HCFA is currently supporting a group of parents ("Armidale Families" Facebook group) who needed an organisation to apply for a grant on their behalf.  The Armidale Families steering committee joined HCFA to effectively form a sub-committee for the project, which is to open a drop-in centre in the middle of town.

The grant outcomes is uncertain, but HCFA has now partnered with the Uniting Church to trial a drop-in Parents Centre in the Wesley Hall in Rusden St (free of charge for 6 months).  When there are enough volunteers to run the centre, it will be open 10-1 on Tuesdays & Thursdays (and maybe Fridays), with three volunteers on deck to help out at any one time.

Parents and carers will be able to drop in for a cuppa, feed or change baby, find or share information and chat to other members while volunteers provide general support. Child-friendly activities like face-painting, story-telling, and singing  will also be scheduled.

Interested members of the community are invited to attend information sessions at the Wesley Hall (the hall to the left of the church at the front) from 10-11 am on Tue 28 Feb, Fri 3 Mar and Thu 9 Mar.  All volunteers will ultimately need working with children clearance (which is free of charge for volunteers).  To start the ball rolling, go to http://www.kidsguardian.nsw.gov.au/child-safe-organisations/working-with-children-check.
